Just about 8 months!

In 4 days, my little angel will be 8 months old! Can you believe it?  I look at her and she looks so mature.  She is blossoming into a little lady.  She is changing now everyday!  Lets see:
- She waves hi and goodbye
-She says hi
-She says baba
-sits perfectly and catches her balances if falling.
-She doesn't crawl yet but she can turn right around while sitting, she can reach way ahead of herself and if she topples over she catches herself not to fall.  If she is lying down she will roll and scoot around her bum.
- She really seems interested by the way things work, turning wheels, pressing buttons, lifting things to see whats underneath etc.
-She walks with a walker, its soooooo funny
-She absolutely adores our cats, she laughs her head off at them now!
-She really loves her daddy now!  Smiles so big when he comes into her view!
-When she drops stuff, she looks to where they landed, tries to get things
-She is very cuddly now, she gives hugs
She loves looking at herself, she giggles to no end
-She has 2 teeth that are all the way out and 2 just about broke thru
-She has now had her first cold, eye infection and ear infection and her first bad fever that scared mom to death
-She sleeps pretty good, still no fuss EVER to put her to bed, she sometimes wakes in the night, for the most part doesn't

What she eats now:
Toast, grilled cheese, pancakes, bits of cheese, cheerios, brocolli, carrots ( all baby jar stuff), lovesss orange pieces and yogurt, cookies,apple juice I pretty much let her try anything we are eating!! She just loves to eat!

She has adjusted well at daycare, she just lovvvvvvvves her caregiver and the little boys over there!  She had her first wound, she came home with a bite mark from the little boy!

She loves peek-a-boo, this never ever gets old, its always funny, actually she laughs at just about everything!  I love her to death! She is growing up way to fast!

I earned my "Mommy stripes"

Well so the phamacist told me lol As you remember from my previous post, Shelby has been super sick.  Well it hasnt gone away and has gotten worse.  She hasnt slept or eaten in days.  Yesterday was scary.  She screamed all night like she was being tortured, by the morning I was so frazzled and figured she would sleep eventually..NO.    Then her fever skyrocketed and it really scared me.  I took her in Sunday morn to see a doctor.  She screamed bloody murder and coughed and choked and barfed in the waiting room. I thought surely this time they will help and not just send her home.  Sure enough, she has a bad ear infection and an eye infection on top of her cold.  Poor thing, well at least I know whats wrong now.  You can better deal with the screams when you know what causes them.  I know I am a newbie Mom and for some this is nothing, but this scared the bejeezus outta me!  I felt so helpless, and useless, and really really frazzled!  I best get used to her being.  What a horrible feeling when your child is in pain and you cant help them.   On a bright note, she has a few antibiotics and they told me to give her motrin and she is on the mend.  I actually got some smiles out of her today!  Welcome Back Shelby! 

She's growing so fast!

Sick baby

Poor Shelby has been sick since sometime on the weekend.  Momma caught a cold and I think I passed it on to her.  She started off with a booger nose, and this weird gagging thing while she was eating,,which I attributed to teething.  She is teething her top two teeth.  But then it got worse, it turned into a full blown cough with an added bark attached at nighttime.  She stopped sleeping, like...wouldnt sleep at ALL!! Momma is not used to that!!  Yikes.  Made for one grumpy Momma and one grumpy baby.  To make matters worse, she also has diarhea and we are now Day 3 she refuses to eat.  I was so worried yesterday I took her to see the doctor,  they tested her for Croup ( whooping cough) but is probably just a viral infection.  Her throat is sore and swollen and thats why she wont eat,.  The only thing she had yesterday was 4 oz of apple juice, and the day before, about 8 0z of milk.  This morn, about 2 oz.  Very worrisome.  Solid food - forget it.  The strange thing about it, she seems to be pretty happy anyways.  I felt embarassed telling the doc "Shes sick" as she bounces and sings.  She is certainly in much better spirits today but is still coughing and not eating, I suspect it will just resolve itself and I will continue to try to feed her.  Poor baby.  This was her first cold!

What a week!!

Where do I begin? Let's start with the biggie ---> Daycare

1.  It went really really well.  Shelby has made a friend with a 2 yr old boy! Its so cute! Her face lights up lile a Christmas tree when she sees him.  First he laughs and smiles at her, then he runs away.  Then I can hear him from around the corner yelling  "Sheeebbbby"" So cute!   I think its doing her really really good.  Helping her with her seperation anxiety.  She told me the baby hasnt been fussy and its all been great!  Well, the five year old blew her cover,, he asked me " Why does that baby cry all day?"  LMAO!!  The truth comes out!  Honestly I expected her to cry all day and actually it warmed myheart just a little knowing that she misssed Mommy.  Her babysitter has 2 really big dogs.  She loves them until they bark, then she totally screams in panic.   Ya see, Shelby has this new scream, one i have never heard before.  When she is frightened, she shrieks!  Ya feel bad but its kinda funny LOL  She does it when the vacuum is on, or when you stretch out a piece of duct tape and now barking dogs :-)   So in a nutshell, I think Shelby is going to settle in nicely.  She is getting used to her new friends.  She rides in a double stroller with tthe 2 yr old, apparently she is not find of sharing the stroller :-)  Mommy was starting to adjust come the 3rd day.  Okay really what that means, is Mommy didnt cry ALL day, just parts.  This is a huge transitiion for me!  I will get better!

2.  Shelby can sit!  Yay!!!  She weebles and she wobbles, but she dont fall down!!  Yay Shelby!

3.  Her upper front teeth have broken thru.  Not a fun time for Shelby and Mommy.  She does handle quite well.  She wakes in the night crying.  Last night I picked her up and brought her out the couch and gave her a wee bit of bottle and then we both snuggled up and fell asleep!  What a precious moment!

4. We seen the doc and have a plan in place for Shelbys sibling.  I will document here our journey as well, as it is how I became and will become again a Momma.  We are beginning my next cycle, which is next week, but as some of you guys know its about  a 2 month process which begins with me having to take some birth control for 21 days.  Go figure, I want to have a baby and I have to take birth control.  More on this next week!

5.  Shelby now LOVES, I mean love loves Shopping now.  It use to be quite a ordeal for me, crying mad baby hurry through the store.  With her new found ability to sit, she just loves sitting in the cart looking everywhere and trying to grab everything!!   Here is pic :-)   Enjoy!!  

Eating and Sleeping and

These seem to be the constant worries of a new Mom, oh and pooping.  Is she sleeping enough, is she eating enough,,, oh is she sleeping too much? Am I feeding her too much?  hmmmm that poop looks weird.,..oh no, shes not pooping.  Welcome to my world, these are the things that were constantly going through my head and just when I think i have it figured out.,..Its changed.  Anyways, now, for now anyways.. I have got it figured out!  She is sleeping beautifully!! I don't question it, she sleeps roughly 10 hours interrupted sleep at night and a 2 hour nap in the morning and a 2 hour nap in the afternoon! I know, that great eh?  There are probably moms out there that envy me right now!  I have many friends with sleepless babies or ones that have trouble falling asleep. Not mine, she gets tired and at the first signs of tiredness ( rubbing eyes, pushing her face into my shoulder) I put her in her bed and put on her blankies, I rub her head for a minute and kiss her goodnight, she plays with her blankies quietly for a few minutes and off to sleep she goes!  Every day is the same! She is able to fall asleep on her own even if she wakes in the night!  I know, this may change, I really am enjoying it now while it lasts!!

Eating is a little different, she was doign so well, she was eating cereal, veggies, fruits and now meat.  We seemed to have regressed a little. She will only eat fruit and sometimes a spoonful or two of veggies.  I think she got the taste for sweet and the hell with the rest!! LOL  I am not too worried about it for now! She will eat most things if she is starved!  She is still eating on average about 30 oz of formula a day.

Pooping?  Do you really wanna know?  Well you know she had the milk allergies before and all the trouble with diahrea, well now we have solid poops, yup!!  She is a pretty regular kid, not much to report now or worry about in the poop department :-)

6 months

So Shelby went for her 6 month check-up last week!  It seems my little dinosaur has slowed down in growth.  She is 20 lbs and 28.5 inches long!  On the charts, she is average size of an 11 month old!  Yay Shelby!

She didnt like the vaccinations this time at all!  She looked like she knew exactly what was coming!  I felt so bad for her!  She cried for half hour and they heard her next door at the dentist!  It just breaks my heart when she is in pain!

Doc says she looks real healthy, she has a perfect size head!  She is a little on the roley poley side as she cant touch her toes haha, kinda like her Dad lol

She has 2 teeth that have broken the surface!! I will try and get a picture soon!  I felt really bad for her, for almost a week she hasn't been sleeping and eating.  Now she cant seem to get enough food and sleep!  :-)

She still isnt rolling by herself, she did once, but I think it was a fluke. The doctor said it may because she is bigger lol  She just doesnt seem interested, she slidesd around and drags herself on her back! She seems content,. She is really trying to sit up now, she can sit for a short bit by herself!

We have moved onto meats, and different veggies and fruits! She loves everything, especially blueberries!

5 months and where did my happy baby go?

AHHHHHHH! We have a whole new Shelby now!  One that cries frequently and long, one who doesnt like to sleep through the night.  Our whole routine is off and I am tired.  I wish I knew why,,,  Is it the gas? The teething?  Is she hungry,..  :-(  Here i sit at 3am with my unhappy, non-sleepy baby..  I sure hope it passes soon!

Getting a routine!

I Ican't seem to get into a regular blogging routine! I had this vision that I would be bloggin every day documenting each moment and milestone of Shelby's existence! While I have so many thoughts and emotions floating in my mind, I never seem to be able to put them to words. Maybe its my Mommy scatterbrain..who knows! Its been over a month since I have written, many things have happened:
-We discovered Shelby has a milk allergy
- It has since been treated with a new formula that is working great!! This however, was after months of gas, puking and diahrea and just plain cranky baby!!! So Halleluia to the new formula!!
-Shelby is very alert and excited about her surroundings these days, she loves her toys! She still has a short tolerance for other people, she really is a Mommys girl! However, she is starting to warm up to Daddy! Daddy gets lots of smiles now and sometimes even a ;laugh or two!!!
-She can finally lift her head once she is on her tummy and she is trying desperately to roll
-She is talkign up a storm, she says regularly "Hi!", and other babbbling noises! She loves to laugh and squeal. In the recent week, she has started to make this creepy noise almost like a demonic chant!! I hope that stops LOL I guess she is just practicing vocalizing!
-Shelby loves to eat. We stopped solids for awhile as per docs orders but have since started back again! I have been makign my own baby food and she absolutely loves it!! She grabs the spoon from me and shoves it in her mouth and then cries because I cant fill up the spoon fast enough!! Just like her Daddy LOL
-She is now sleeping in her crib like a champ!! She regularly sleeps now 12 hours a night and 2 naps in the day!!! We are amazed and blessed!! Thank you Shelby!!
- She is teething like crazy!! She is drooling so much she is full of rashes and eating everything in sight
-Here is the best part,,,her growth She is almost 20 pounds and over 26 inches long and she is 4.5 months!!! Thats my big baby girl!! She is wearign now 12-18months clothes!! THe doctor said that maybe she would slow down in growth aroudn 6 months!! We will see!

I am thinking of going back to work maybe one day a week for now, just for my sanity. It sounds liek a good idea but then the thougt of leaving her with a babysitter all day scared wondering where Mommy is makes me want to vomit. what to do!!!

Happy New Year!!!

I can't believe it was this time last year, I was going to the Ottawa Fertility Centre trying to make a baby :-) It was Jan 17, they put 2 embryos back inside of me in hopes that one would take! It was the longest 2 weeks of my life waiting to see if I was pregnant!! Look at me now just one year later with this precious giggly little girl!!

She has changed in the last few weeks! She is very independent now. She is not as keen to be held, she wants to grab everything with her hands, she hates me to hold her bottle or her spoon;she wants to do it! She is starting to squeal when she is happy, its the cutest thing you ever heard!! She is so alert and aware of whats going on now; she hates,,,,I mean HATES to leave the house, she hates the car seat, hates the stroller....... I hope that passes soon!!

We are going to start swimming lessons soon, I cant wait,,,another week I think.

I hope everyone had a wonderful new year!! I am so grateful for 2009! My beautiful miracle angel arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh boy she loves to eat!

She's a natural eater, thats for sure! As soon as the spoon touched her lip for the first time, she gobbled down the food. Ever since, every time the spoon is coming towards her, i get a big wide open mouth! I know alot of people would say I am starting her to early on cereal, but what the hell. I cant seem to fill this kid up, and shes not fat... where does it go? I cant wait till later on to start feeding her fun stuff! I think I will wait till she's four months before I start to introduce anything else. The cereal I feed her is really really runny too, almost like milk. I am such a proud Mama!!
